MAY NEWSLETTER

 

We have very little time left in Kindergarten!! Please help us by reminding your child to follow the rules each day and continue to do his/her best. We want to ensure all of our students continue to learn and grow academically. Thank you all for a wonderful school year. We are all very proud of the progress each child has made. Attached to this letter is a list of fun academic activities you could do with your child over the summer.

 

What we are learning:

Reading: This unit will focus on key details, identifying the central idea, and identifying the author and illustrator and explaining their roles. 

Writing: We will choose a topic we want to teach others about and write detailed how to books. We will continue to work on capitalization and punctuation. 

Phonics: Our focus will be making words from words we already know how to spell. Using the “sneaky e” to make words using long vowel sounds. Reviewing our sight words and rhyming words.

Math: We will learn to compose and decompose teen numbers. We will learn about tens and ones. We will count to 100 by ones and tens.. 

Social Studies: We will be learning about state and national symbols and our U.S. holidays.
