DIRECT INSTRUCTION: Elmo and smart board will be used to demonstrate drawing his portrait and how to incorporate words describing MLK *any resources from home and media center Work Period (We Do, You Do) Students learning by doing/demonstrating learning expectations. Describe the instructional process that will be used to engage the students in the work period. GUIDED PRACTICE: On a 12x18 white paper students will use a sharpie to draw bust of MLK Lettering will be added in background Watercolor can be added for the background and skin color INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION: *Books from OPE library are on each table *any resources from home *Differentiation: Students will be in small groups of 3 and help each other Closing (We Check) Describe the instructional process that will be used to close the lesson and check for student understanding. SUMMARIZE/SHARE: T.A.G. method of critique T- tell something you like about artwork A-ask a question about artwork G- give a suggestion on how to improve artwork
